Future Simple Tense - When and How to use the Future Simple Tense






We use  the Future Simple Tense 


  • when we decide to do something at the time of speaking


When the phone rings and you say: 'I'll answer it.'

(Someone's carrying a heavy bag.) 'I'll help you.'

(A child cannot reach the cookies on the table.) 'Hang on. I'll get you one.'


  • when we promise something


'I promise I'll send you the email today.'

'I'll pay you back as soon as possible.'


  • Most of the time we use will after: 'I think…' ; 'I'm sure…'


I think they'll leave early today. 

I'm sure they project will pass the tests.


  • when we're not sure, not certain about the future action we're talking about. We just 'predict' it


It will rain tomorrow. 

You'll be rich and famous. (at a fortune teller)


What is the structure?


will + infinitive (simplest) verb form


In questions and negatives:


They won't (will + not)  be happy to see this mess. 

Will you please come with me to Paris?
