What is Thanksgiving? | How to celebrate Thanksgiving | What's the origin of Thanksgiving? | Thanksgiving English Learning Exercise

In September 1620, a small ship called the Mayflower left Plymouth, England. The ship carried 102 passengers - now known as Pilgrims, who were seeking a new home. After 66 days of crossing the Atlantic they landed in the New World, America.

Unfortunately, half of the pilgrims starved to death because their first harvest failed. Native Americans taught them how to grow corn, beans, squash, how to fish and collect seafood. So the following year they celebrated a the successful harvest together with big feasts, to show they were ‘thankful for’ their help.

There’s a very interesting 3 minute video to watch about Thanksgiving, click and watch:

Thanksgiving is celebrated each year on the fourth Thursday in November. Families and friends gather for a day of feasting and having family time.

It’s also a good opportunity to think about what YOU are particularly thankful for this year.

This year I’m particularly thankful for my beautiful niece being born. I’m thankful for seeing my sis being such a wonderful mom. I’m thankful for everyone who helped me to publish my new course The Puzzle of Tenses.

And last but not least I’m thankful for YOU and more than  40 000 other people who are supporting BubbleBee TV on the social media sites every single day. Thank you for being here with me.

Tell me what you're thankful for - leave a comment below.
